- This year we will study NCEA Level 1 Science
- The topics are essentially the same as the other Y10 classes study
- However, we will study them in greater depth
- You DO NOT have to enter for NCEA examinations this year (but you can enter if you and your parents decide it is a good idea)
- You will all sit Senior Benchmark examinations in Term 3 AND the Year 10 examinations in Term 4
- When you pass Senior Benchmarks this will give you the pre-requisites for any future science study at TGC
- Year 10 examinations will be used for prizes and for entry into Year 11 extension Sciences
Possible Science Options Year 11-13
1. Take NO SCIENCE in Year 11 - English Maths and 4 options (NB if you change your mind you can re-enter Science subjects in Year 12)
2. Take 11 GENERAL SCIENCE in Year 11 - English Maths Science and 3 options (NB this option is if you need to REPEAT the material we will cover as you didn't really understand it and you want to slow down and improve)
3. Take ONE OR BOTH of Year 11 Biology (extension) or Chemistry/Physics (extension) in Year 11 - English Maths Biology OR Chem/Physics and 3 options OR English Maths Biology AND Chem/Physics and 2 options (This gives you MORE breadth and understanding to assist your achievement in Year 12 and 13 Sciences)
